Let me start my post with saying that Mount Fuji is breathtaking. It is absolutely majestic and out of this world. Visit this place if you can and stay a few days in Kawaguchiko. It is worth your time.
On a quest to fully maximize our JR pass, we decided to visit Nikko. Nikko is a city two hours by train north of Tokyo. It is where the famous Toshogu Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage, can be found. It is also the best place to see some fall foliage in early October.
I was so psyched to climb up another mountain. The whole experience – the energetic start, the ‘why am I doing this to myself’ stage and the ‘thank goodness I’m at the top’ moment – never fails to make me extremely happy.
