We really had *low* expectations for Tofokuji Temple. The only reason why we decided to go here was because it was near Fushimi Inari and it’s always better to visit two temples instead of one.
We were able to visit Kiyomizu-dera before. The reason why we visited it again was because of the fall evening illumination. The pictures we saw online were amazing that we just had to put it in 2018’s itinerary. Also, to be honest, we wanted to go here to here because we had a nice camera and wanted to take some photos and test our non existent skills.
Arashiyama is one of my most favorite places to see and visit in Kyoto. I love the temples, bamboos, food stalls, people, and vibe of this place. For this trip, we decided to visit the Bamboo Forest and the Arashiyama Park. We planned on getting some food and sitting by on one of the park benches and people watch.
Our last stop for our Nara tour was Kofokuji Temple. To be completely honest, at this point of our tour, we were so tired we just wanted to go home and have a hot foot soak. It was drizzling non-stop the whole day, we almost lost our only umbrella, and we had a mini argument. It was chaotic, to say the least. We just wanted to rest. But you’re only in Japan once (or you only get to be a first-time tourist in Japan once) and we wanted to really see everything. We just winged it. We put one foot in front of the other and found ourselves at Kofokuji Temple.
