When we went to Japan last year, the one thing Mike and I were truly excited about was the food. We are big fans of Japanese food and we had high expectations for what our stomachs were about to experience. We had a daily budget for food and we weren’t scared of splurging once in a while to eat good food. Allow me to share with you some of the food we ate before we devoured it. SEE Japan 2017

Japan 2017: Tokyo

The last stop for our 2017 Japan trip was Tokyo. After days and days of touring, we weren’t just tired, we were exhausted. Which is why we didn’t explore Tokyo that much. We mostly stayed in our hotel until mid-morning and only went out around lunchtime. The modernity of Tokyo didn’t entice me too much. I know now how silly that sounds because even if Tokyo was a modern city, it still has its own charm I wish I appreciated when we were there.

Japan 2017: Nikko

On a quest to fully maximize our JR pass, we decided to visit Nikko. Nikko is a city two hours by train north of Tokyo. It is where the famous Toshogu Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage, can be found. It is also the best place to see some fall foliage in early October.

Japan 2017: Himeji Castle, Himeji

If I had to choose the most memorable place in all of our Japan 2017 trip, it would be this – Himeji Castle. I learned about Himeji Castle from my favorite blogger, Tricia Gosingtian. She had the most amazing photos of the castle and it was a no-brainer when choosing the places we’d visit.
