Miyajima, Japan 2018

After visiting Hiroshima, our next stop was Miyajima. Miyajima is famous for the Itsukushima Shrine and it’s floating torii gate. The shrine and torii gate is built over water making it seem to float during high tide.

Hiroshima, Japan 2018

Hiroshima is famous because this is where a nuclear bomb exploded. I’m not very good with history but the short story is, the United States dropped a bomb here which caused 70% of its population to die. It has a sad story but what I liked most about visiting this city is how you can see that it overcame everything to rise up again.

Japan 2018

I’m finally blogging about our Japan 2018 experience. Right off the bat, I know I’m not going to do a good job telling our story since it’s been six months since. All I vaguely remember from this trip is it was amazing, filled with a lot of fall foliage, a lot of walking and sitting down at park benches, a very expensive unplanned shinkansen ride and yes, a lot of combini food.

Japan 2017: Tokyo

The last stop for our 2017 Japan trip was Tokyo. After days and days of touring, we weren’t just tired, we were exhausted. Which is why we didn’t explore Tokyo that much. We mostly stayed in our hotel until mid-morning and only went out around lunchtime. The modernity of Tokyo didn’t entice me too much. I know now how silly that sounds because even if Tokyo was a modern city, it still has its own charm I wish I appreciated when we were there.
