You know we’re going places when I cross the ocean and start reviewing Japanese beauty products too, lol. Kidding aside, I only have this product because my friend asked me to buy it for her when we went to Japan. Yes, it’s been months since that trip but I only started using it this 2018. I was hesitant to try it (borderline considering to sell it on my Carousell shop) because you all know I’m more than satisfied with my Klair’s sunblock. Anyway, I got myself to try it and here’s my review.
Aqua Micro Capsules with UV block ingredients provide superior sun protection while keeping skin cool and refreshed; enriched with moisture-binding and skin-plumping Hyaluronic acid; contains citrus essence to hydrate and smoothen skin; water-based texture for fast absorption; no white residue; suitable for use on the face. –BeautyMNL
My first impression of it is it smells like ginger. There’s this weird scent that I wasn’t used to. It was distracting the first few times I used it. Once my nostrils got used to it, I was then able to use it more regularly.
If you don’t know, let me tell you that the kind of sunblock I prefer would be the ones that could hide my skin imperfections without the need to use any base products. The lesser products I have to put, the better. I started using this product about the same time we moved into our new home. My skin was adjusting to the harsher environment (everyday commute using jeeps) and the lack of proper weekly exfoliation. My skin wasn’t at its prime. I noticed my skin was in a terrible state. I had bigger pores and blackheads. When I used this sunblock with that kind of skin, I saw that it highlighted my imperfections instead of hiding it (cue horror music). I saw everything and it was bad. What’s worse was if another person was up close, they could see it too! I ended up using this product and then my cushion foundation.
At that point, I wanted to throw this sunblock out and just buy my trusted Klair’s one. But I knew that wasn’t the solution! I then focused on my skin and took care of it. After a few weeks of intense skincare, my skin improved. That’s also the time when I was able to use the product without cushion foundation. It was okay to use with just powder (which is always my goal).
The verdict, if you’re looking for an all in one sunblock, the kind where you don’t have to use any base products after using it, this could be an option for you if pores and blackheads aren’t your thing. If it is, I’d say stay away from it. It has a way of magnifying your imperfections in an unflattering way.
However, if you’re looking for a sunblock you could layer with other products and not one that hides imperfections, this product will work for you. It is very watery which makes it dry fast. It is also cooling and applies smoothly on the face. Your foundation (or any product you plan to use after it) won’t smear and instead, will blend better on your skin. It’s a fantastic product perfect for everyday use, you just have to take care of your skin (which you should anyway).
