I consider Harry Potter the reason why I fell in love with reading. I remember growing up with Harry and reading his adventures as he faced life, death, and love. Safe to say, he influenced my life, big timeTherefore, it did not shock me that I needed to get my hands on the new books as soon as it hit the shelves. I got my copies days after the books hit the stands but it wasn’t until this year that I read them, lol.

I made the mistake of watching the movie first before reading this screenplay. Big mistake. It is exactly like the movie only in a written format (which is what a screenplay is). A fact I completely forgot.

The story itself is good. Note, I said it was good. I wasn’t especially blown by it, unfortunately. Maybe because I was expecting more beasts in the series.

I guess I’m saying that I was okay with reading something else besides wizards and I wanted to read about the magical creatures of the wizarding world.

Also, a bit of a letdown that their biggest enemy was human (or caused by one)? I was expecting dragons or exciting new beasts from the depths of the Earth but instead, we had a child and his uncontrollable anger.

Maybe it’s my fault. Maybe I didn’t really understand where the book was coming from and where it was headed.

Whoever’s fault it might be, one thing is for sure. I didn’t like it.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

It was very refreshing to see a new side to Harry. It’s also enjoyable to read about Ginny, Ron, Hermione and Draco and their futures. It felt like home. It was like a reunion, a catch up with your childhood friends.

Unfortunately, that’s all of it.

I was kind of disappointed that a time turner was at the center of the plot here. It means that I wasn’t able to see more of the future but instead I was taken back to places and spaces I already knew about.

I wanted, desperately, to live a new adventure even if it was with Albus Potter and not Harry. Too bad, all I got was a taste of the familiar with just a few changes.

Again, maybe, I was expecting too much.

I guess Harry and his adventures are a thing of the past and if I were to want more, I can’t have it.

Harry Potter will always have a place in my heart. But maybe, that’s where he belongs. Any more and we might be pushing it. I had fun reading these two books but both of them were average and not like any of the seven books before. Too bad.

To keep it short and simple: I'm twenty-nine years old. Still plenty young, but not as young as I used to be.

  1. Oh i didn’t know that they released a screenplay for the Fantastic Beasts. Also, the film didn’t excite me as much as the original HP movies did, but i got excited by the end when they revealed Grindelwald. And a young Dumbledore will be featured in the sequel! I Hoooraaahhh!

    1. There was just something missing in the movie! It wasn’t as exciting as I was expecting it to be. 😦 I’m not sure if I will be excited about the new films even if it’ll take us back to the start……but hey Jude Law as Dumbledore can change my mind hahaha!

  2. I have a copy of the Fantastic Beasts, but I still haven’t read it yet! I’ve seen the movie though and quite excited for the sequels! I’m hoping there are more beasts in the coming ones!
