This series was recommended to me by my friend. She has watched the first few episodes and she thought it was a nice series to watch. I took her word for it and jumped right into the world of Hong Seol (Kim Go Eun) and Yoo Jung (Park Hae Jin).
Drama depicts the delicate relationship between female university student Hong Seol (Kim Go-Eun) and her senior Yoo Jung (Park Hae-Jin). Hong-Seol works part-time due to her family’s poor background. Yoo Jung is good looking, gets good grades, athletic and has a kind personality, but he has a dark side. –AsianWiki
If I had to describe the plot in my own words it would be…it’s about this girl, Hong Seol, who while studying meets two guys, Yoo Jung and Baek In Ho, who completely turns her world upside down. It’s pretty simple which is why I had zero expectations when I first started watching this show. I honestly just wanted another show that can make me ‘kilig’ while watching it. This show, definitely didn’t give me what I wanted but despite that, I still liked it.
One of the things that I liked about this show is Hong Seol’s character. Overall, she’s just like you and me, you know, the normal-just-trying-to-get-through-life kind! She has her own set of problems, puts her studies first, hasn’t had a boyfriend until college (almost like me…I had mine when I was working LOL) and has a dramatic/chaotic family to be proud of. She’s just relatable and I definitely liked that about this show. I sometimes see myself in her and that just makes me want to hug her.
As I was watching it, I felt a little sad for the lead male, Yoo Jung, because he’s portrayed as a rich kid who has-the-world-on-his-shoulders kind. Eventually, it was unraveled in the series that he developed a creepy borderline sadistic trait because of the pressure of being a chaebol. It’s just sad that children can’t be children just because they have a family business and they have to maintain a certain image.
**Spoiler alert** What made me watch this series are the small little things that make it so real. There was this instance in the series where Hong Seol had an argument with her family because of money. Her parents were thinking of asking her stop going to school for her brother. They then had this big fight because of it. **Spoiler over**
That scene just touched my heart because it’s something that normal people can go through. And I don’t know, I guess this series was a breath of fresh air because it was something that tried to focus on or talk about real issues. I just find that nice. 🙂
If you’re looking for a sad but relatable kind of series, this one is for you. It has the right amount of sweetness from the lead characters plus it’s just really nice. LOL. It’s one of those series where I’ll give it four stars out of five just because. 😛
PS. It’s based from a webtoon! They say the ending of the series is bad because of some issues with the actors but whatever, I liked it. To each his own!
