I’ve been seeing this recipe so often in Pinterest that I decided to give it a go. 🙂
My mom cooks her lasagna very differently from this recipe, that’s why I have been very hesitant to try it our for myself. Good thing it turned out good, so good my mother made me make two more batches! Talk about getting more comfortable in the kitchen!! 🙂
Let’s jump right to it.
What you’ll need:
–For the white sauce: Parmesan cheese, ricotta cheese, egg, salt & pepper to taste
–For the red sauce: Spaghetti sauce, ground pork, onion and garlic.
ps. I had to be safe for this one so I bought and used a ready made spaghetti sauce but if you are feeling adventurous, you can use fresh tomatoes for the red sauce.
What you’ll do:
-Cook lasagna noodles as required. Put aside.
–For the white sauce: In a bowl, mix a cup of ricotta cheese with three tablespoons of Parmesan cheese. Add in an egg, also salt and pepper to taste.
–For the red sauce: In a pan, saute onions and garlic then brown the ground pork. Once cooked, add in the spaghetti sauce and bring to a boil.
Now the fun part!
-Assemble your station as such. Noodles – white sauce – red sauce – microwaveable container. (LOL, totally optional but I like doing this so I have order once I start rolling the lasagna up. Also I used a microwaveable container since I don’t have an oven)
-Get a lasagna noodle and spread about a tablespoon and a half of white sauce on it.
-Roll it up.
-Once your container is filled with your lasagna roll-ups, pour in red sauce all over it.
ps. In the picture above, I tried to add mushrooms with it. My little twist for today’s recipe.
-Pop it in the microwave and poof, comes out the best ever rolled-up lasagna you will ever have. (Alternatively, you can use your ovens, I’m sorry don’t know how hot it should be or for how long.)
There you have it! My version of lasagna roll-ups. My verdict: It’s such a fun thing to prepare. Taste wise, I’d give it 4 stars out of 5. And this only because I am still a beginner cook. My mom is the best cook out there and her lasagna can kill my lasagna any day of the week. BUT, as I have mentioned, my mom said it tasted good and she would definitely try out this recipe for herself next time she makes her lasagna. That’s the best compliment I could ever ask for. 🙂
