Mike and I love to eat at Max’s restaurant. Our favorite dish there is Steamed Fish Fillet in Light Soy. It is the yummiest thing ever!!! And because, we can’t always eat out, I decided to try it on my own and share with you my version. 🙂
I checked Google for a simple recipe. I found an easy to follow and fuss free one on this website here and just made my own revisions.
For the Steamed Cream Dory:
Cream dory fillets, sliced in serving pieces
Salt and Pepper
Sliced ginger strips
Slice your cream dory in serving pieces and rub them with salt and pepper to taste. Place them in your steamer and put strips of sliced ginger on top and around the fish.
For the Light Soy Sauce:
1/4 cup light soy sauce
2 1/2 cups of water (or more if you still find it salty)
4 tsps white sugar
1 tsp oyster sauce (optional)
1/2 tsp of sesame oil to taste
In a pan, mix all the ingredients together and simmer to a boil. In my case, I think I put a little too much soy sauce in it, resulting to it being very salty. I had to add a LOT of water.
My final dish ended up like a soup dish. I recommend you add a little at a time for the soy sauce. It tastes better than it looks! Two thumbs up from me.
